Many coastal cities in Denmark are at risk of flooding due to rising sea levels. 18 Danish cities have partnered with the Danish Ministry of Environment and Realdania in order to develop new strategies for managing the risk of rising sea levels in a way that meets local challenges, opportunities and visions for urban development.
The DK2020 program was set up in 2019 to assist municipalities in preparing ambitious, local climate action plans that can lead the way to climate neutrality by no later than 2050. Two years in, no less than 95 Danish municipalities have joined the program, making Denmark the first country in the world where virtually all municipalities are drawing up climate actions plans to meet the targets set in the Paris Agreement.
