Cities100 selects the 100 best climate solutions from cities throughout the world. The 100 best solutions are selected from a large number of applicants. Solutions are selected because they make good example projects that can be applied directly, are scalable, or can inspire others.
The aim is for Cities100 to encourage cities, businesses, institutions and investors to cooperate on implementing solutions that can prevent climate change, support sustainable development, and help achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
C40 Cities Award
The best solutions from Cities100 will be nominated for the C40 Cities Award to be presented during the C40 World Mayors Summit. Bloomberg Philanthropies is the sponsor and is responsible for presentation of the C40 Cities Award.
Cities100 was published in 2015, 2016 and 2017. A new edition will be published in 2019 prior to C40 World Mayors Summit 2019 in Copenhagen.
In 2015-2017, Cities100 was completed in collaboration with Sustainia, and the 2019 edition will be published in collaboration with Nordic Sustainability. The publications have all been financed by Realdania.
Klima100
Klima100 was published in 2018 and is a Danish version of Cities100. Klima100 illustrates 100 climate solutions from 80 Danish municipalities and applies the same selection principle: Good example projects from which others can learn. Klima100 was completed in collaboration between Realdania and Sustainia.
