The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy is an international alliance of cities and local governments with a shared long-term vision of promoting and supporting voluntary action to combat climate change and move to a low emission, resilient society.

Former UNFCCC Executive Secretary, Christiana Figueres, serves as Vice-Chair. Current UNFCCC Executive Secretary, Patricia Espinosa, joins the Board as an Advisor and Observer.

Shared goals
The Global Covenant of Mayors considers local governments to be key contributors to a global green transition with local, regional, and global city networks as core partners. History of the Global Covenant
