C40

From 2014 Realdania has entered into a three-year partnership with the C40 Cities network. C40 Cities will receive about USD 34 million to support its core work of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change. The three funding providers are the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, based in the UK, the US Bloomberg Philanthropies and Realdania.

Global knowledge for Danish cities
Today, C40 is the leading international urban network, in which dedicated mayors and city officials share their experiences and good practice on climate action across national borders. C40 places high priority on measurable and documentable action towards reaching its climate goals. Many Danish cities and urban regions are also focusing on finding new and effective solutions to the challenges of climate action. It is Realdania's ambition that the huge pool of knowledge on climate action being developed and disseminated in the C40 network should also benefit Danish cities.

Danish expertise to benefit the world
The City of Copenhagen is already strongly engaged in C40, and now Realdania’s participation will ensure that Denmark’s vast experience in sustainable solutions within the built environment can be shared even more extensively with the rest of the world. In recent years, Realdania has been deeply involved in a number of climate-adaptation projects for Danish cities and suburbs, using new and innovative solutions. Through its partnership with the C40 network, Realdania intends to involve relevant Danish ministries and municipalities.
